Agog is an abstract, 3D, virtual reality “world” made for the Oculus Quest 2.  Made with a variety of software, including Unreal Engine, TouchDesigner, After Effects, Max MSP and Processing,  luminous and color-saturated structures tower over the participant. Invited to explore the undulating terrain which is dotted with strange forms and  “non-forms”, the visitor embarks on an adventure, a journey of curiosity and awe. Spatial sound enhances the possibility to lose a sense of self, while perhaps surprising shifts of level reveal new views and spaces to actually get lost in.  Encounters with seductive objects may lead to non-ordinary spaces further beyond - speculative and sublime.  

It is designed for the Oculus Quest 2 VR headset, but a downloadable desktop version is also available, which of course is not the same full experience. 

Warning: contains flickering and flashing light. 

No violence, no guns.

I am a visual artist with a background in painting, photography and video projection. I have never before worked in 3D, Unreal Engine or VR, and this first VR app is for my MFA thesis at the School of Visual Arts in NYC, where I have just completed the Masters in Fine Art (Computer Arts).

I treated the Unreal environment as a studio workspace, bringing in works from other software, such as After Effects, Max MSP, Cinema 4D, Touch Designer and more.

I developed my own soundscape, creating a series of drone inspired tracks using a MIDI and ProTools instruments software. Some of the sounds are ambient to the whole environment and others are encountered in their own corners and spaces.

You are invited to enter this world, explore where you want, linger at leisure, look around, get lost in the levels; don't be surprised if you don't end up where you expected.
